For the eastern North Pacific... east of 140°W longitude:

The National Hurricane Center is issuing ongoing advisories for Hurricane Aletta, currently located several hundred miles west-southwest of Manzanillo, Mexico.

Meanwhile, shower and thunderstorm activity has increased in association with a broad area of low pressure located a few hundred miles south of the Gulf of Tehuantepec. Although the system is still disorganized, upper-level winds are forecast to become favorable for development later today.

A tropical depression or tropical storm is expected to form over the weekend as the system moves west to west-northwest, just off the southern coast of Mexico.
