The National Hurricane Center (NOAA) reported last week that the chances of having an above-normal hurricane season for the remainder of the year have increased.
The El Niño phenomenon in the Pacific Ocean has come to an end, which will make conditions in the Pacific Ocean slightly more favorable for the development of tropical systems.
The probability of an above-normal Atlantic hurricane season is now 45%. In May of this year, NOAA stated that the probability was 30%.
NOAA's *Updated* 2019 Atlantic #HurricaneSeason Outlook now calls for: 10-17 named storms of which 5-9 could become hurricanes, including 2-4 major hurricanes.
